Simple ways to save mother earth

As a response to this global issue, I am posting some of the simple ways to prolong the life of mother Earth.

Scientists repeat that it is impossible to stop global warming. Certainly it is impossible if to adhere to similar policy and to not do anything that though somehow will correct a situation. Transcendental theories on rescue of the Earth are certainly well, but use from them will appear, only after their successful introduction up to which it is still very far. If you do not trust in these simple ways, at least it will positively affect your financial position.

  1. Receive as much as possible information on global warming, awareness – the keystone to success. It is impossible to fight, not knowing “enemy” to face. Define for itself the problem of change of a climate is how much important for you. You trust in it or not? If yes, independently define, that is to that the reason. Do not take a word to whom, make actually the decision.
  2. Turn off the TV, light and other household appliances when do not use them. It seems natural, but at huge quantity of people light of the house burns round the clock. The only thing that is required from you is a good memory and superfluous some seconds on performance of simple operations.
  3. On a maximum use natural illumination.
  4. Turn of the screen-saver on the computer, instead in 5 minutes there will be simple black screen.
  5. Replace the old bulbs on fluorescent, they consume in 5 times of less energy, keeping a level of illumination and they serve 10 times longer.
  6. It is good if your home appliances have been approved by organization Energy Star. All the largest companies try to meet with this approval. The best variant would be to replace all techniques on those which have Energy Star approval.
  7. Whenever possible use natural ways of ventilation, not conditioners. Check up thermal isolation of a premise; keep the necessary temperature in the natural way.
  8. Save water, eliminate the malfunctions causing its uncontrollable outflow; do not leave the crane turn on. Clarification of sewage and their further distribution demands greater power expenses.
  9. Recycling. Good idea would be to give your trash for processing.
  10. Reuse. Do not use disposable utensils and pickings. They, as a rule, are done of a paper or plastic. Thus, reduce cutting down of woods and consumption of oil. Go to shop with your own package.
  11. Try to conduct accounts department and correspondence on-line. That way you reduce the emissions arising during post transportations, and will rescue some trees.
  12. Well and certainly go on foot more, or go by a bicycle. It is not necessary to sit down a rudder to pass 500 meters.

You can also reduce the consuming of the use of plastics. Conserve electricity, paper, water and others. Inform others about global warming and be oriented about it.

I am recycling the papers that still can be used.. After using, I am not throwing it, I collect them and sell it to junk shops so they can sell it again and have it recycled..

Let us all do our OWN SIMPLE ACT of conservation and the 3 R's Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

ALPOMBRA is NOT a "panghilod" (stone scrubber)

We went to a friend's house to bond.. and drink our exhaustions away as we had our share of a day's volunteer work. In the middle of the "session," we played this popular game called "Pinoy Henyo." Questions will be raised by the guesser and will be answered with yes, no, maybe.

As one category risen one after the other, my friend Ryan named "Alpombra." He left for a while and my team members asked me what it means. I said it means "panghilod" or a stone scrubber. And then the chaos happened. We really laughed loud when my friend Cris realized that there was a misunderstanding with all of our team mates. And it turns out, its my error.. Hehe.. Sorry!

Alpombra as to the description of rhyannefranz.. (thanks to your blog..)

Ondoy’s Way of saying, “We are on the way”?

As I turned on the TV last night, up today, there are so many news about Ondoy’s massive effect in our country; those telethons, people’s angry reactions, PAG-ASA’s old equipment, students being glad about having suspension of classes, appealing for help, and many among others. I can’t help but ask myself, is this really the fault of the government, the phenomenon, or by us, people ourselves?

09:00 a.m. September 26, Saturday
I woke up finding many text messages in my cellphone, asking if the camp that we will hold later that afternoon will be cancelled. I had a feeling that it will be suspended because of the heavy rains that the storm gave out since the night before. Just then I received a message that it was indeed cancelled.

11:00 a.m.
I was very busy discovering this new “Farmville” thing on Facebook. My mother called out and said that we should get ready as a lookout from the river said that it is almost full. I never panicked because we had experienced the flood before. But I can feel my mother’s worry: worry of carrying heavy things upstairs and saving the expensive machines and equipment of our business. I can’t blame my parents, they DID work hard to establish the business that we have.

The image shows the water level inside our house. It reached up to the third step of the stairway.

12:00 nn.
My mother started to lift most of the things inside our store. I was still hesitant but when I looked outside the terrace (2nd floor), I saw the water coming from the San Vicente Loob aisle just beside the San Vicente Church. I went downstairs and told my father that “Apaw na po yung ilog.”(The river is already full) in a very calm voice. Then I started to lift some of the furniture and things from our sala, also in a very calm manner.

2:00 p.m.
We are staring at the flood waters inside our house. Just waiting for the level of the water goes down. I looked into our terrace again and saw these people and vehicles trying to pass the currents of the flood.
My father decided to cut our electricity for a while because of some outlets.

4:00 p.m.
I was watching the waters outside and I felt that the water level continues to rise. So I went downstairs again to help my parents to lift things which will be greatly affected if it will become wet. The business of my parents has something to do with refrigerator, washing machine, and aircon matters. My father was saving the “compressors” which cost a lot. I tried to lift one of those things, but it weighs like 5 kilos or something. It’s really heavy! So I rested on the smaller ones and placed them on each step of the ladder going upstairs.
Meanwhile, we tried to lift the new videoke set which my father brought on a safer area.

5:30p.m.
The water is finally receding slowly. We already ate dinner with hot rice and just a can of tuna. We prepared the pails and mops as we removed the mud altogether as the water recedes at the same time. The living room in our house is a lower ground. So we need to put water in pails and throw the water one at a time.

8:00 p.m.
I am already tired but my mother wants to finish cleaning the living room set before going to sleep. I fetched water from the nearby water pump (poso). I went back and forth to get some water. We had none because the water system motor had shut down. And then finally, I fetched my last pail of water for my bath.

10:00 p.m. September 29, Sunday
I turned on the TV for the first time after the tiring experience. The news about Ondoy was all over the television. I watched it for a while. And it seems that the storm was a serious hit in the country. The National Capital Region was greatly affected, considering that it was an urban area. Marikina and Rizal is under water, literally. People continuously crying for help and aid in affected areas. After watching, I surfed the net. I saw some pictures from different sites about the typhoon. It was really unexpected. The sudden flood and the amount of rainfall that the typhoon gave I would describe as “extreme.” One article I read from Inqurer.net stated that the amount of rainfall Ondoy gave is equivalent to a month of rainfall. As a result, water levels of floods have reached higher levels than before, not mentioning its swift spread all over the place.

I have read people’s comments about the events. Some students are happy that there are no classes the next day. (I would rather have a class, and have a good weather than see a lot of people suffering.) I also read one of my friend’s comment, “we should be ready” or something like “this is a lesson for us.” I have also seen how it affected celebrities and people living in middle and higher class subdivisions. Comments about the government officials’ slow response to the situation. Military rescuers were missing in relief operations. Global warming taking its effect on climate change as this typhoon is described as “unusual” and there is an end note; “It may happen again.”

Whatever are the purposes of this, we should always be aware that the life’s lessons are learned through hard and difficult situations. I am thankful that the experience had helped me be sensitive of other people’s situations. I am thankful that my family and friends are safe. And I extend my prayers to the people who were affected by this typhoon.

I still believe in the power of prayer.

how do i begin?

This day will be the start of my blogging. Actually, I have no idea about this "blogging" thing. I always thought of this as "a waste of time" because a person will just write anything and let other people read thinking that it might get their attention and receive praises and others; and admire their unusual way of self-expression. But look at me, I am actually starting to create my own. I know my capacity in writing. I'm not that much of a writer. I'm not expecting a number of people to read my "blogs" (I actually thought it sounded funny =) but i hope to meet some people who share the same interests with me and who would comment on my thoughts, either positive or negative.

"BLOG" sounds funny to me, because it sounds like a kinda heavy thing that has accidentally fallen from a table or something; as in "BLAG!" that sound. I used to think that it has been created since you will create a message and suddenly throw it to your site, then here comes "BLAG!"..which is the sound when you throw your messages here.. Silly thoughts of mine.

We were having a conversation this afternoon, then suddenly my friend was browsing the facebook, and he was really passionate about expanding this "FARM", (I'm sure you know what I mean). And then he mentioned something about blogging and that some people eventually became rich because of it. Suddenly, I became interested, and its honestly because of the money (well who doesn't?) so i listened intently..

And then as he was continuing to tell the story about the magic blog site, I became interested with the idea that you can just say anything and share anything under the sun. as in ANYTHING. Well up to this time, I'm not really sure up to what extent can this "anything" reach. I hope this will be fun. And I could meet people who would be interested with the things that you do. That's when I became more interested..(may seem unbelievable, but yes it is!)

I chose the name les journal. Inspired from the french "diary." And of course, zhin-yah is my name.(ha-YA!)

It is 11:35 pm. and I have a class tomorrow at 7 a.m. I hope to get up early.
